Thanks for Elpis Israel in Russian
Readers will recall that in the last issue of The Lampstand it was mentioned that Elpis Israel Part 1 had been translated into Russian and was being printed. An appeal was also made for donations towards that work. Elpis Israel is now arriving into the hands of our Russian speaking brethren and sisters and the following are several comments received from keen readers of this work.
Many thanks to you all and all the brethren and sisters in Australia for the Russian translation of Elpis Israel. It is quite an interesting coincidence that just after the last Bible Camp in Ukraine in January I started reading Elpis Israel in the original language and have been so excited with its exposition of Bible truth that I wonder why we in this part of the world preach with leaflets instead of such works like this, Christendom Astray etc. Although I do understand there are people who can understand only simple exposition of the Truth.
With such a book I have the sure hope of finding some friends interested in the doctrine, though first I should find a person interested in studying the Bible itself. But I think such a good book can create a pure interest in the Bible itself if someone has never read it with understanding.
So I really appreciate your kind present and pray God to give us clear understanding of His revelation and make it spread around us in this world.
Yours in Christ,
Volodymyr and Lucy S, Kiev Ukraine
Thank you very much for the book Elpis Israel which we've just received yesterday. We all here in Russia really need that book and now we have it. As you may know, we had eleven baptisms at the last Bible school. Some great news is that yesterday we had one baptism here in Moscow. Now we are eight here altogether in Moscow and the little area around. Brother Igor Sipiagov baptised a sister who is about 40 and knows the Bible very well. In the last Lampstand magazine there was one mistake in the article of Brother David’s “A Pastoral Trip Across Russia to Mongolia and China”. It not true that Igor Sipiagov had translated the book Thirteen Lectures. My father Gennady translated it and I typed, checked and sent it to you for printing.
With best wishes from all of us.
Your brother in Christ, Igor P, Moscow Russia
I’ve just written to say that Elpis Israel in Russian has arrived safely to Lithuania and we enjoy reading it chapter by chapter. Brother John Thomas must have been an extraordinary person to think about all those things in the Truth and put them in a clear language (for those times it must have been really very unusual!). Thanks for all the support!
Your sister in Christ, Nijole S, Vilnius, Lithuania
We would remind readers that donations for this work in Eastern Europe can be made to The Lampstand—East European Fund.
